Snow Day #3....Introducing Duchess the new dog

Today was Snow Day #3. We braved the melting snow and traveled to Springfield to pick up a new dog that we were adopting. Duchess is a cockapoo. She is four years old. Her old owners were moving out of state and couldn't take her along.

We made our first stop at Fuji's (a japanese restaurant) one of our favorite places to eat in Springfield. Jayce had never been before, so it was pretty exciting for him. The chef cooks right in front of you and does lots of tricks with fire while cooking. Jayce even got to eat with chopsticks! Oh I forgot to mention that poor Jordy got left behind at Meemaw Barb's. He always misses out on the fun trips :)

Our next stop was to Bass Pro. Jayce posed by a big bear and some gigantic alagator gar. He rode on some "Vroom-Vrooms" and even climbed in the boats. I know the salesman thought we were crazy, because Jayce and I were climbing in the pontoons and pretending that we were pirates on the seven seas. Jayce kept yelling "Watch out! Watch out! The big waves are coming."

After Bass Pro, we went to pick up Duchess. Jayce was very excited and I think Dutchess's mommy was pretty sad to let her go. She rode quietly in the car with us back home. She is very well mannered and friendly. She has been walking around the house all evening sniffing and checking everything out. I hope she makes a good fit into our family and I hope she starts helping me out by cleaning up the food left in the floor by the boys :)

Snow Day #2

After piling on layers and layers of pants and shirts, we braved the cold and went outside to play in the snow. Jordan was not crazy about the snow and went back inside to take a nap about 5 minutes later. Jayce, on the other hand, loved the snow. He wanted to make a snowman, but the snow was too dry. Instead, we just made a big pile of snow and added eyes and mouth. We had a lot of fun, and will have to wait and see if we get Snow Day #3.

Snow Day #1

The Big Snow Day!!!

It was way to cold to take a picture from outside, so this is looking through our back door.

Jordan wanted to go outside so bad. In the picture he was trying to put on Jayce's coat and hat. We are getting more snow as I blog, so hopefully we'll be able to build a snowman tomorrow. I'm sure that will be an adventure :)

Jayce wanted to make brownies, but I'm pretty sure it was just because he wanted to eat the batter and lick the mixing spoons :)

Watchin' Hoops

Jared had a Saturday game this weekend and I was finally prepared with camera on hand. The boys always have to have popcorn, but I didn't bring my wallet in because I figured the concession stand would be closed since it was Saturday. Well, it was open, of course, and Jayce threw a fit. Luckily, Wilburt, the custodian bailed us out. Jayce stayed busy most of the game by coloring pictures. Jordan was very excited pointing out the hoop, the basketball, and daddy. Meemaw Barb and Scott came to watch with us and then afterwards we met Meemaw Sherry and Pete to go shopping.

...but, he wanted me to :)

The pictures do not do the story justice... The boys and I came home on Friday right after school while Jared was gone to an away basketball game. We ate supper and then the boys went upstairs to play. I cleaned the kitchen, started laundry, picked up the living room and then began to wonder why both boys were being so quiet. As I walked around to the staircase, I caught a drift of aerosal hairspray. I knew I was in trouble then. As I made my way to the bathroom I noticed the hairspray can was sitting on the edge of the vanity. When I picked it up, the can I had just bought the day before was about 3/4 empty. I turned around and walked to the hallway when Jayce and Jordan came walking towards me from the playroom. Jordan had the biggest, goofiest grin on his face and his hair looked as though it had be shellacked. I couldn't even get a word out before Jayce said, "Look Mom, I fixed Jordy's hair. He wanted me to." Poor Jordy, the guinea pig. I should have known. Never trust quiet kids.

Can't leave Jordy out :)

Here's a clip of Jordy. I felt bad because I didn't have any pictures of him from the waterpark. Here he is doing a somersault, with help. :)

A Day at the Waterpark

Today we spent the day at Timber Falls, the indoor waterpark at Tan-Tar-A. Jayce loves going with his cousins (Justin and Jamen). Jordan, however, is not as crazy about the place, I think because it's so loud. Jayce played and played. Jordy just clung to Jared like a scared cat. This is the second weekend in a row that we've made our way to the waterpark. It's located at a resort, so there aren't ever a lot of people there. The waterpark is perfect because the water is shallow and with lots of lifeguards, Jayce can do most things on his own. He kept up with his big cousins and did just about everything they did, except the slides which he was still skeptical of (he is not a fan of water splashing in his face). We're now at home with two very tired boys along with a very tired mommy and daddy. What a fun weekend, too bad we have to get ready to go back to work and Tracy's tomorrow :)

A Girl's Night

If you keep up with my mother's blog as I think most do, then you'll see that once again she beat me to a blog :) Well, we had a fun-filled girls night out last night. The movie was great (Wedding Wars), the food was scrumptious (Margarita Chicken at Applebee's), and we found some great deals while shopping (Banana Republic 60% off of clearance :) While we see each other quite regularly it was still nice to be able to spend the evening with each other. Daddy and the boys enjoyed the evening at Tan-Tar-A waterpark and were wore out by the time we arrived home. As soon as I get pictures from Meemaw Barb, I'll get those posted.

The 80th Birthday Party

We celebrated in grand fashion last night for Grandpa's 80th birthday. It was a very nice evening with good food, fireworks, family, and friends. Since my mother has already beat me to blogging about this event (she's so competitive), I don't really have anything new to say. But, we had a great time, and I know the 90th will be even better than the 80th!

The Party...

Jordy's pretty excited. Can't you tell :)
