The joy of reading :)

This past week we have been celebrating reading. This yearly celebration was themed "Race to Read." All week long at school we have celebrated reading with this fun racing theme. Our goal by Friday was to have read 5,000 books building wide. I wanted to post these pictures and videos because it's a little glimpse into how much fun my job is :) First of all I just wanted to post this picture because I'm pretty sure our school is haunted. I hope this picture comes through clear enough for you to see all of these "orbs." Kind of creepy :) Here is a picture of all 800 of our students. I can't believe we were able to fit them all into our little gym. One of the rewards for meeting our goal of 5,000 books was for Melissa (the building principal) and I to race on Wii Mario Kart. We are both very competitive. It was sooo much fun and the kids loved it :) A second reward for reaching our goal was for the classes to make their own car and have their teacher race it. Here is a video of one of the races. I know it looks so silly, but the kids get such a kick out of watching their teachers be goofy. Everyone had such a good time :)

We got Mail!

The boys finally received their Valentine's Day cards today. I think our Post Office has resorted back to using horse and buggy to save money because my mother claims she sent these last week with plenty of time to arrive before Valentine's Day. You know the distance between Lebanon and Camdenton is a whopping 25 miles :) Okay, enough with griping about the Post Office. The boys were very excited to open their cards and continued to do so approximately 50 times in a row :) Jayce goes, "Hey that's Meemaw and Papa talking to me. Hey, that's the Charlie Brown song." He was very impressed. So, I would like to say thank you Meemaw and Papa for providing my kids with cheap entertainment. It made cooking supper so much more pleasant. (Please ignore the McDonald's bags in the background. I promise I really am trying to boycott them).

Time to make the bagels

I just had to post this picture of Jordy taken this morning. He has been on a bagel kick and has to have a bagel on the way to Tracey's. He won't take half a bagel either, it has to be the whole thing. He nibbles and naws on it and it's practically as big as his head.

Getting Ready for Preschool

Today Jayce had his preschool screening, so that he can start preschool next year. He will be in the same building I work in, so it will be exciting for him to be able to go to school with me everyday. He did such a great job. Mrs. Debbie, our PAT consultant, worked with him and had lots of little tests for him to do. She asked him who he played with and who his friends were. He said Jordy and Mommy :). She asked him to draw a picture and he chose to draw a volcano(I have no idea where that came from). He had to sort colors, identify pictures, stack blocks, and more. He concentrated so hard and acted so grown up. I am just so proud of him. He amazes me everyday. I know it sounds silly and sappy, but he is growing up to fast and I can't get him to slow down. It's just hard to believe that soon he'll be going to school. He is such a gift to me and I am so thankful everyday that he is a part of my life.

Jayce had to balance and walk on a straight line.

Mrs. Debbie is testing Jayce's vision. He loved the eye paddle because she told him he looked like a pirate.

Jayce had to stack the cups inside themselves. This involves visual perception and problem solving skills because he has to look and think about which cup fits into the next.

Jayce had to stack the blocks as high as he could without letting them fall over.

Mrs. Debbie measured Jayce's height and weight. Pretty average: 38in. tall and 30 lbs. (I don't think he's going to be an NBA star)

Jordy's not to amused.

Happy Birthday Papa!

Happy Birthday Papa! Thought you might enjoy this video montage by Jayce. We love you lots :)

A Beautiful Sunday

The weather has been absolutely beautiful this weekend. This afternoon we went out to ride bikes. Dutchess had a great time too, sniffing out the scents of the other neighborhood dogs. It's definitely hard to believe that it's February because it felt like spring :)

Jibber Jabber Jordy

Jordan talking on the phone and eating. He just started saying Pete last night at Papa's Birthday party. I thought Pete would enjoy this. Oh yeah, I should mention that Jayce is helping videotape (you might get a little sea sick :).
